Zeiss BATIS 135/2.8 e Sony
Compact telephoto autofocus telephoto lens for Sony E-mount, ideal for portraits
The new ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 lens is the first 135 mm focal length AF lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras.
The new ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 is the first 135 mm focal length AF lens for Sony Alpha 7 system cameras with E-mount. Like all lenses in the ZEISS Batis range, it is equipped with fast and precise autofocus. To prevent vibrations, which are common in telephoto lenses, an optical image stabiliser has also been incorporated into the design. The ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 particularly proves its worth in portrait photography: "The telephoto focal length allows the subject to stand out well against a blurred background," says Michael Pollman, Product Manger at ZEISS. "The bokeh works very well, and the optical design - an Apo Sonnar - ensures outstanding images every time. The new ZEISS Batis can also be a great choice for social and event photography.
Compact, lightweight, premium quality".
"The advantage of Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras is that, despite their compact size, they offer exceptional image quality," says Pollman. ZEISS has continued to drive the design of the ZEISS Batis 2.8/135 towards the needs of Sony photographers. "It was important to build a comparatively handy lens, despite having a fairly long focal length. We made a conscious decision to strike a balance between compactness, weight and light intensity.
OLED display for depth of focus
Like all Batis lenses, this new member of the family features an OLED display that enables accurate depth-of-field display. This ensures that the image is in focus everywhere. The metal body gives the lens robustness and durability. ZEISS claims that its dust and moisture protection makes shooting in bad weather conditions a walk in the park.
The image quality leaves nothing to be desired: "We have put a lot of effort into the optical design and correction of our lenses," says Pollman. "For example, we are experimenting with special types of glass to correct as many types of image errors as possible. Thus we have been able to ensure correction of chromatic aberration in the ZEISS Batis 2.8/135, so that we have virtually no image errors." The construction of this lens consists of 14 elements in 11 groups.
