People can be tracked even if they are wearing a full-face helmet or sunglasses. When photographing motorsport, the EOS R3 can recognise motorbikes and racing cars, and even distinguish between closed and open cockpits, pinpointing a driver's helmet when it is visible.

The EOS R3 is a professional hybrid camera capable of capturing broadcast-quality cinematic video and stunning stills. Packed with features that enable filmmakers to reach new levels of creativity, the camera can capture video footage in 4K oversampled or 6K RAW format internally on a CFexpress card. Canon Log 3 provides greater dynamic range and more colour grading possibilities.

Most importantly, videographers can also use the same subject recognition available to photographers, so you can track moving subjects across the frame and keep them in focus even when working.

Adapts to your current system

The EOS R3 fits directly into your existing system, so you can combine it with other SLR or mirrorless cameras.

It's powered by a high-capacity LP-E19 battery, the same one you'll find in the EOS-1DX series bodies. Your EF lenses will work exactly as they should, thanks to a wide range of high-quality mount adapters, which also allow you to add extra features such as a control ring or drop-in filters.

Reliable customisable controls

The EOS R3 is a professional thoroughbred. Its form is based on our EOS-1DX series cameras, but it's smaller and lighter, and incorporates the design principles of the EOS R mirrorless system for excellent handling.

The camera offers a wide range of controls, with a multi-controller and smart controller at your fingertips. Three customisable dials on the camera body, plus a lens control ring on each RF mount lens, allow shutter speed, aperture, ISO and exposure compensation to be adjusted with the camera to the eye.

The EOS R3 is also equipped with a high-resolution 4 million dot vari-angle vari-angle display that's clear and bright, even in bright lighting conditions. It lets you easily compose from creative perspectives. Two card slots let you record image and video files to high-availability SD cards (with UHS-II compatibility) or the latest generation of super-fast CFexpress media.

Use of the electronic shutter with flash

To help you balance daylight and flash even in bright conditions, or freeze the heads of fast-moving subjects, flash sync is now possible when using the camera's electronic shutter, both Canon Speedlite flashes and third-party studio flash units.
