Thanks to the latest SIGMA technology, it digitally corrects optical distortion. A high-brightness wide-angle lens in a compact body.
With 16 elements in 13 groups, the optical system features a multitude of high-tech, high-end components, including three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements and two moulded glass aspherical elements. This optical system minimises optical aberrations and ensures outstanding resolution at wide aperture and across the entire aperture range. In particular, the two aspherical lens elements have very high-precision surfaces, minimising the bokeh effect produced by some aspherical elements and ensuring clear image quality across the entire frame.
Early in the design process, SIGMA measured flare and ghosting to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlight.
SIGMA's Super Multi-Layer Coating helps further reduce flare and ghosting and provides sharp, high-contrast images, even in backlit conditions. The included lens hood can be attached to block stray light, preventing a negative effect on the result.
