El nuevo Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 destaca por sus características técnicas, que son ideales para cualquier uso profesional con cámaras DSLR de 35mm.

El Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 ofrece a los fotógrafos más perfeccionistas un rendimiento y una calidad de imagen que hasta hoy solo podíamos obtener con medio formato, pero reduciendo sensiblemente el tamaño del equipo.

Las nuevas réflex con sensores de alta resolución evidenciaron la necesidad de desarrollar nuevas ópticas. El Otus 1.4/55 supera la exigencia de estos sensores gracias a su excelente nitidez, alto contraste y ausencia de aberraciones cromáticas visibles, ofreciendo la más alta calidad de imagen posible, incluso a plena apertura.

La nueva óptica Zeiss es especialmente adecuada para trabajos de publicidad, moda y fotografía de estudio, ámbitos profesionales en los que la calidad y el rendimiento son fundamentales.

El nuevo objetivo Otus 1.4/55 es el primero de una familia de lentes estrictamente profesionales de Zeiss, que irá creciendo con nuevas distancias focales. Otus es el nombre en latín de una especie de búho conocido por su excelente visión en la oscuridad, como el nuevo objetivo ultraluminoso de Zeiss.

“Nuestro objetivo era crear la mejor óptica estándar para DSLR del mercado. El Otus 1.4/55 ofrece una excelente nitidez y una perfecta interpretación del contraste desde el centro hasta las esquinas de la imagen. La única forma que tuvimos de conseguirlo fue utilizando el complejo diseño, que hasta la fecha sólo se ha empleado para el diseño de objetivos gran angular”, explica Christophe Casenave, product manager para Zeiss Camera Lenses.” Gracias al bajo nivel de aberración cromática longitudinal, las aberraciones visibles son inexistentes. Si imaginamos una escena en un puerto por la noche, iluminado con distintas fuentes de luz tanto por delante como por detrás, ofrece un nivel de foco muy cercano a la realidad al no mostrar bordes de contraste con colores complementarios. El rendimiento sobresaliente del Otus es constante para todas las distancias de disparo. Los excelentes resultados obtenidos a plena

apertura hacen del Otus una muy buena opción para primeros planos y retratos. Como es capaz de aprovechar al máximo los nuevos sensores de alta resolución, generando imágenes con un increíble nivel de detalle, el nuevo Otus se convierte en una gran elección para fotografía de paisaje y arquitectura”.

Tanto el diseño óptico como la mecánica del Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 han sido desarrollados teniendo en cuenta las necesidades especiales y el aumento de las cámaras réflex digitales de alta resolución. Evidentemente, las cámaras con menor resolución también se benefician de estas innovaciones. El diseño consta de 12 elementos en 10 grupos, incluyendo una lente asférica de doble cara y seis lentes fabricadas con vidrios especiales de dispersión parcial anómala y elementos flotantes. Estas sofisticadas características crean imágenes libres de halos de color o deformación, además de ofrecer un excelente contraste y un elevado nivel de detalle en todo el campo de la imagen, incluso a plena apertura.

El extraordinario comportamiento del Otus 1.4/55 es especialmente evidente en las tomas nocturnas. Al tomar fotografías bajo fuentes de luz abiertas con distintas temperaturas de color es donde suelen aparecer los defectos. Gracias a su diseño apocromático y a los elementos de dispersión parcial anómala, el Otus 1.4/55 corrige las aberraciones cromáticas longitudinales, ofreciendo unos resultados con defectos cromáticos significativamente más bajos que los definidos hasta hoy, con unas transiciones suaves de oscuro a brillante y libres de artefactos cromáticos.

Aunque no es una longitud focal tradicionalmente empleada para arquitectura o paisaje, gracias a los grandes resultados que ofrece de centro a esquinas en cualquier apertura, los fotógrafos podrán dar rienda suelta a su imaginación. Para el retrato, el Otus 1.4/55 no solo ofrece un nivel de detalle fuera de lo normal, además su gran apertura ofrece un control excelente de la profundidad de campo, creando un bokeh suave y agradable.

Aparte de ofrecer imágenes altamente detalladas y libres de artefactos, el Otus 1.5/55 destaca por su calidad mecánica. El diseño como objetivo de enfoque manual permite a los ingenieros trabajar con tolerancias mucho menores en la construcción. El robusto barril de metal y el seguro agarre del anillo de enfoque, con amplio ángulo de rotación, permiten las más mínimas variaciones de foco, haciéndolo perfecto para las situaciones cotidianas de los más exigentes fotógrafos profesionales, y garantizando a la vez la larga vida del producto.

If we imagine a harbour scene at night, illuminated with different light sources from both the front and the rear, it offers a level of focus that is very close to reality by showing no contrasting edges with complementary colours. Both the optical design and the mechanics of the Zeiss Otus 1.4/55 have been developed with the special needs and growth of high-resolution digital SLR cameras in mind. Naturally, cameras with lower resolution also benefit from these innovations. The design consists of 12 elements in 10 groups, including a double-sided aspherical lens and six lenses made of special glass with anomalous partial dispersion and floating elements. These sophisticated features create images free of colour halos or distortion, as well as offering excellent contrast and a high level of detail across the entire image field, even at full aperture.

The outstanding performance of the Otus 1.4/55 is especially evident in night shooting. It is when shooting under open light sources with different colour temperatures that defects tend to appear. Thanks to its apochromatic design and anomalous partial dispersion elements, the Otus 1.4/55 corrects longitudinal chromatic aberrations, delivering results with significantly lower chromatic defects than ever before, with smooth transitions from dark to bright and free of chromatic artefacts.

Although not a focal length traditionally used for architecture or landscape, thanks to the great centre-to-corner results it delivers at any aperture, photographers will be able to let their imagination run wild. For portraiture, the Otus 1.4/55 not only offers an unusually high level of detail, but its large aperture offers excellent control over depth of field, creating a smooth and pleasing bokeh.

Apart from delivering highly detailed and artefact-free images, the Otus 1.5/55 stands out for its mechanical quality. The design as a manual focus lens allows engineers to work with much smaller tolerances in construction. The sturdy metal barrel and the secure grip of the focusing ring, with wide angle of rotation, allow for the slightest variations in focus, making it perfect for the everyday situations of the most demanding professional photographers, while guaranteeing a long product life.
